Montreal exchanges Kowalchuk to Washington
According to the official NHL website Montreal Canadiens, the Canadian club traded Russian attacker Ilya Kowalchuk to the Washington Capitals. In return for a 36-year-old attacker, Washington gave a third-round pick to the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. Kovalchuk started this season with the Kings, but due to unsatisfactory results and a major contract that operated as a ballast, by Christmas the player was traded to Montreal.
