Crimean-Tatars TV channel crashes in Ukraine
In Ukraine, the collapse of the specialized Crimean-Tatars TV channel ATR continues, which announced the blocking of its accounts and financing from the state budget. The relevant information is published on February 10, the correspondent reports news agency. The statement notes that the TV channel once again blocked funding, despite the fact that the state officially allocated 50 million UAH for the media for the current year. In 2019 the state transferred to the account of the TV channel 15 million UAH state support on December 28 when all banks were closed and no transactions could be carried out. ATR, according to the law, had to return this money to the state. In 2020, UAH 50 million was allocated from the state budget of Ukraine for the financing of the TV channel. Some of that money came to ATR's account, but it was blocked by the Treasury, the statement said. The news agency recalls that ATR began broadcasting in 2006, and in 2015 switched to broadcasting from Kiev. ATR has received financial support from the state budget of Ukraine since 2016 and was essentially a propaganda tool for Crimean Tatars subordinate to Kiev. At the end of January, the TV channel had already declared its financial crisis. The loss of interest of the current government in the asset may be due to the fact that on February 15 the new state TV channel created under the patronage of President Zelenskiy for temporarily occupied territories begins broadcasting.
