Italy's fashion industry to produce 1.5 million medical masks a day
Within three weeks, fashion industry enterprises in Italy will increase the volume of medical masks production from the current 350 thousand pieces per day to 1.5 million, Sky reports on Monday, March 30, with reference to the statements of the heads of relevant business associations. Previously, a number of clothing companies in Italy decided to completely or partially repurpose production for the duration of the pandemic. On 22 March, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced the suspension of all enterprises of the country, except strategic ones, as well as all trading institutions, except pharmacies and grocery stores. Earlier, a project of financial support for industries and regions most affected by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic was approved, with a total amount of 25 billion euros. The same amount is expected to be allocated in April 2020. 400 million euros have been allocated for the purchase of products to the needy, as well as funds from the budgets of the regions.
