China allocated $18.8 million to fight drought in two regions of the country

The Ministry of Finance of China and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the People's Republic of China allocated 130 million yuan (about $18.8 million) to fight drought in two regions of the country, the agency Xinhua reported on April 17. A total of 100 million yuan is sent to Yunnan Province, which is the most affected by the worst drought in a decade. The funds will be used to address the serious shortage of drinking water and water for agricultural needs. Another 30 million yuan will be sent to Inner Mongolia in northern China, where drought problems also exist. As REGNUM reported, rivers and reservoirs are now being dried up by hundreds in Yunnani and nearly 1.5 million people are suffering from water shortages.
