Chinese meters Mount Everest reached an altitude of 6500 meters
A team of 30 Chinese researchers arrived at a base camp located at 6,500 on Mount Jomolungma, Everest, Xinhua news agency reported on May 7. The researchers thus came another step closer to carrying out their mission to measure the height of the highest mountain in the world. They arrived at the site around 17:00 local time on 7 May intact after they left the previous camp at an altitude of 5,200 metres, located in Tingri county of the Tibetan Autonomous Region in south-west China on 6 May. According to the news agency, since the founding of the PRC in 1949, six stages of measuring the height of Mount Everest have been carried out.
