Earthquake recorded off the coast of the Kingdom of Tonga

An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded by seismologists in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of the island state of Tonga. This was announced on August 2 by the US Geological Survey (USGS). The epicenter of tremors was located in the Pacific Ocean, 223 km northwest of the capital of the Kingdom of Tonga, the city of Nukualofa, where about 24 thousand people live. The center of the earthquake was at a depth of ten kilometers. Information about possible casualties and destruction was not received, the threat of a tsunami was not announced. Earlier, the news agency reported an earthquake of magnitude 5.7, which was recorded off the coast of Papua New Guinea.
