Opposition in Côte d'Ivoire calls for civil disobedience
The main contender for the presidency of Côte d'Ivoire has called for a civil disobedience campaign against the decision of incumbent President Alassane Ouattara to run for a third term in next month's elections. This is reported by Air Force Africa. Henri Conan Bedier, the former president of the country, said that in a campaign of civil disobedience, all opposition parties will unite to protect the stability of the nation. Recall that at least 10 people have been killed since riots broke out in the country in August after Ouattara announced that he would run for the presidency again after the sudden death of his successor, nominated from the ruling party. According to reporters, the upcoming elections are considered by experts as a serious threat to the stability of the West African state, since the disputed election results already led to a civil war 10 years ago.
